Temporary Endeavor

Temporary endeavor means it has a beginning and end. Project cannot be permanent. It has to be finish at any moment. Every event must be temporary.

Unique

Uniqueness of the product, service or result is unique deliverable. This not means that there are not any similarities between projects but overall result should be unique.

Require Progressive Elaboration

According to PMBOK 6th edition, progressive elaboration, also known as require progressive elaboration is defined as “continuously improving and detailing a plan as more detailed and specific information and more accurate estimates become available as the project progresses, and thereby producing more accurate and complete plans that result from the successive iterations of the planning process”.
At the beginning of the project no one knows nothing but by the process of progressive elaboration stage, move completely unknown to successful project. In other words project team use best practices of project management to fulfill requirements, goals and objectives of the project.

Other Elements

o   Limited by resources
§  This means managing projects with limited resources. Limit resources is kind of reduce cost and kind of risky thing. If have less resources with less experienced you will not know how they work and what project outcome is. With less experienced resources makes the project harder. Also project manager cannot higher well experienced resources for the project. It has to be combined together. That depends with the project type.
o   Single point
§  In a project team there are so many resources. Only one person cannot make decisions. This is called single point. After project manager planned the project it is quite difficult to change. If he wants to change it he cannot change his own decision. He has to talk with his team. Then other people of the team knows where they have to change and when. But project constraints must balance.
o   Responsibility
§  Project team responsible for accomplish requirements of the project. Each person has different types of tasks to achieve in a project. Main responsibility belongs to project manager. He has to manage the project. Under his planning everybody continuing their tasks. If he made any mistake then everybody will make same mistake. So project manager responsible for all tasks under his project.
o   Suffers with conflicts
§  Conflicts mean serious arguments or disagreements. In project management there are several conflicts between team members. Project manager and others should know how to control them. Otherwise it will make the project unsuccessful. Conflicts depend with the situation, how they look ect. All conflicts are not bad or good.

Management Areas

o   Planning
§  Planning is the heart of the project management. This is where project manager responsible for all tasks in the project. The project management body of knowledge (PMBOK, 1996) defines project integration management as: " the process required to ensure that the various elements of the project are properly co-ordinate. ".
§  Project management steps:
*      Project charter
*      Feasibility study
*      Scope management
*      WBS
*      OBS (organization breakdown structure)
*      Critical path method
*      Schedule bar chart
*      Procurement schedule

*      Budget and project cash flow
*      Communication plan
*      Project quality plan

*      Establish standards to be used in measuring progress towards goals
*      Measure performance against standards
*      Taking action necessary to correct deviation from standards
Analyzing
§  Advantages
*      It is easy to work according to a process.
*      Team can complete the project tasks on time.
§  Disadvantages
*      It is difficult to change tasks once it starts.
*      Sometimes it is difficult to answer for conflicts. Everybody should agree for that.
Conclusion
In above research section shows characteristics of a project. All points include for a project. It is temporary and unique. There are so many similar projects but its outcome is different. Under require progressive elaboration part all should know the steps of the project process. Under that section project is going to begin officially. All characteristics come according to an order. At the very beginning project manager has to plan the project and then others continues it. Completing tasks one by one is the best way of achieving objectives and goals. Everybody has unique responsibilities in the project. Project manager needs support from his team to accomplish project goals. So that’s means all must take responsibility and complete on time.
